This project involved renovating a historic hotel into a home for the Nantucket Community Music Center and the Nantucket Community School. The project included acoustically correct classrooms, music rooms, a parlor for lectures and concerts, rehearsal space, a computer lab and a recording studio.
The project involved raising these three stories building and creating a full basement for a recording studio as well as a computer lab and dance studio. The project involved developing this home into a place for music lessons, a community school, and giving the young an old music opportunity on Nantucket to thrive in their passion for music. The owner Wendy Schmidt is a musician and fondly remembered the early days of learning and wanted to be able to share this with the community.
PSBs role on this project was to manage the architects, engineers, and designers. This was a very unique project and took several years to complete. The owner was interested in utilizing the most advanced technologies in sustainability, sound, materials, and as an interior designer herself she cared that each room was designed to perfection.
