The Arizona Center

Phoenix, AZ

OVERVIEW

STATS

The developer of this project was the ROUSE COMPANY, known for creating unique retail downtown festival marketplaces like this project. The AZ Center was built on one city block and utilized many passive solar concepts that were new at the time, such as sprayers in the arid dessert, prevailing winds, double hyperbolic sunshades, and multiple recycling water features to increase the humidity. This project started as a retail development, but due to leasing issues it also became an entertainment center for multiple restaurants, music venues, and even a multi-unit dance hall. This modification required the entire structural system to be upgraded for dancing halfway through the construction. PSBs role was as an on-site design construction manager and a tenant coordinator, working with all 80 tenants for design review and assisting their construction until grand opening day. The role included day to day procurement and coordination of a 2MM stone package, 1MM specialty lighting, 500K signage and graphics.
